Anyone Remember?
Talking about The Magic Tree House series and Eddie's love for it, got me nostalgic for the series I followed as a kid. I loved reading, of course, The Hardy Boys and Nancy Drew. I was also very much into Encyclopedia Brown, The Great Brain, and Alfred Hitchcock and The Three Investigators. Does anyone remember the latter one? I read just about every one of the original series, I think. By the time they had dropped Hitchcock as they couldn't afford to pay his estate, I had moved on to Star Trek novels. With all the series that are out there, it's a shame they don't have a new series of Three Investigators books out as they tried to do in the 80's. It was a great series.
What I liked about it was that the boys weren't that old (something that was changed in the later series as they could drive). They had a clubhouse and Jupiter Jones, the leader of the three was meticulous about maintaining his notes on the case for Hitchcock's approval. I also liked the fact that Jones, an overweight kid, was the leader and didn't let his weight stop him from doing things. At the time I was reading them, I was a little chunky, so I could relate to Jupiter.
I'll have to do some research soon into tracking down some copies of the books as Eddie gets a little older. He might enjoy them as I did.
